Welcome
We are investigating the challenges and benefits of forming a school region between any two or among all three towns. Our job is to study and make a recommendation about forming a region to the Boards of Selectmen, and to develop a Regional Agreement for Town Meeting to vote on.
As of June, 2009, the Board supports the merger of the independent school districts of Ayer, Shirley, and Lunenburg to form a pre-K through Grade 12 School Region. A region is a governmental entity like a town or city, and can only be formed by a majority vote by the Town Meeting of each of the member towns.
This website is a resource for YOU, the people of the Ayer, Shirley, and Lunenburg communities, to use as you consider forming a school region. You can also contact us with your questions. We hope this is useful for you, and we appreciate your feedback!
